"Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends."
John 15:13  KJV
After the Mission
We have just returned from a mountain rescue,
Wishing we could forget what we were sent to do.
The terrain was quite rugged, it was windy and cold.
It was hard on our bodies and made us feel old.
After long days of searching, we found those who were lost.
They had paid with their lives freedom's ultimate cost.
There was no one to rescue, at least none alive,
But we had to bring back those who did not survive.
The site was disturbing but details we don't tell.
We know they're in Heaven because they've been through Hell.
But we know if you'd ask them, "It was worth it!" they'd say,
"We paid with our lives so you can live free each day."
