"Greater love hath no man than this, |
that a man lay down his life for his friends." |

After the Mission |
We have just returned from a mountain rescue, |
Wishing we could forget what we were sent to do. |
The terrain was quite rugged, it was windy and cold. |
It was hard on our bodies and made us feel old. |
After long days of searching, we found those who were lost. |
They had paid with their lives freedom's ultimate cost. |
There was no one to rescue, at least none alive, |
But we had to bring back those who did not survive. |
The site was disturbing but details we don't tell. |
We know they're in Heaven because they've been through Hell. |
But we know if you'd ask them, "It was worth it!" they'd say, |
"We paid with our lives so you can live free each day." |
