In Memory of Spc. Katzenberger

On Tuesday, August 9, 2005, Specialist Christopher M. Katzenberger, a medic with the 2-504th Parachute Infantry Regiment "C" Company, was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

He will always be remembered by those whose lives he touched.

His love of medicine... his love of children... his love of his country...

all of these made him a truly unique and wonderful young man.

Michael and Christopher Katzenberger

Michael was very proud of his son Christopher's decision to join the Army. He spoke through a family friend who said, "remember... how happy he was. He was fulfilled with this. This was his calling. So if he had to go, there was no better way to go than doing what he loved." (KSDK TV, St. Louis, MO)

While serving in Afghanistan, he asked his family to send him some pencils. He had learned that the children did not have any and needed them for school.
