No Forgotten Soldier
![]()
When speaking of our soldiers, we may seem to forget
The ones who serve behind the scenes, the ones we've never met.
They serve just as faithfully as those sent overseas,
So when you say your prayers tonight, do include them, please.
They do their duty with honor, every morning, noon and night.
And are just as ready and willing as the ones now in the fight.
It's not that they've requested to serve their time back here,
It's just that the "powers that be" have not sent them there.
For when they joined the service, they knew the day might come,
That they would be sent to battle, and from duty they don't run.
They know well that their training prepares them for any fight
A risk that they took knowingly and they do not take it light.
When other units get deployed and seem to get the glory
And they're still serving back at home, it is an age-old story.
Remember it's not by a single soldier that any battle is won,
But that it takes them all together - yes, each and every one.
So here is to each soldier, whether in combat or stateside,
We know you're doing your duty, and in it take great pride.
And if sometimes you feel left out, this o'ersight we regret,
For we know that it takes each of you... and no, we don't forget.
So to each and every soldier, whether on home or foreign soil,
Thank you for your service, your dedication and your toil.
Remember that for every single one of you we pray,
For God's strength and protection, each and every day.
