Stop And Think

By Sassy Sue 11/21/2005

You have the attention of the whole world,

And you've caught the ear of our soldiers.

They left their lives and their families too,

With heavy burdens placed upon their shoulders.

It's a war, ladies and gentlemen, this isn't a game,

And part of their oath was to go.

For their love of this country and the loyalty they have,

They gave up their right to say, "No."

You stand on street corners, you yell all your trash,

You hold your signs up so high.

A soldier is home, being laid to rest,

Yet you show no respect when he passes by.

He was the one that fought for you right to do

Just what you are doing now.

You allow your hatred to demolish all decency,

And I just don't understand how.

I have two sons and they're both in the Army

And it hurts when they see what you do.

They vowed to defend and protect this great nation...

And they did that for me and for you.

Just for one day, just for one minute,

Stop to think just how they must feel.

The IED's, the guns and the mortars,

The pain that they cause is real.

This country's at war, hate it all you want,

God knows that you have that right,

And for that you should thank the soldier,

Because he vowed to stand and to fight.
